    Hi,

How do you set the “meta description” – the short sentence that shows up below the title, in GOOGLE (not Facebook or twitter, as I know how to use the JNEWS meta header for those SNS)

    Thanks.

    Hi sleejay80,

We have a plugin called JNews - JSON-LD, you can try install that.
Here is a documentaion that explain the plugin : JSON LD
Important note, the snippet will be set automatically.
If you want a more customizable snippet for your Google meta description, you can try using plugin Yoast SEO instead.
Here is an article that could help : meta description

Let us know if you have further question.

    Thank you.

    Follow-up question.

For the Front Page, I have already set up the
    1. site description, in settings along with the title
    2. Faceook / Twitter info (and it shows up fine on those SNS platforms)

But in Google, this is what I get for the description:

Are you sure I need to use a plugin just for this?
Seems like there should OBVIOUSLY be somewhere I can change to adjust the text that Google reads off the site.

    Yoga,

    Question 1:

Is my understanding correct that, there is NO way in JNEWS to set the general “description” of the website, NOR does the theme take General Settings > Tagline and use it for anything?

So I need to install a 3rd party plugin (Yoast SEO) to make this happen?

That seems stupidly inconvenient and SEO unfriendly to a devastating level.

    Question 2:

Is Yoast SEO compatible with JNEWS Meta Header plugin?

    Hi sleejay80,

    Regarding your questions :
1). Unfortunately yes, there is no option in the theme to set the google description. You need third party plugin that could do that.
2). Yoast SEO should be compatible.
Let us know if you have further question.

    Thank you.
