What size should the photo be for the homepage slider image?

Thank you for your reply!
I uploaded pictures with the correct size but they look a little pixelated. They were large 4000×2500 or so images that I cropped down to 1080×634 so the quality shouldn’t be the issue… Is the resolution too high and there’s compression happening? I’m not sure.Post count: 2485JegbagusFebruary 9, 2016 at 8:39 am #18360
its can be like that too. wordpress using default PHP image resizing. its better and also for performance wise, its not very good idea to upload those big file size. i will recommend you to upload image between 1920px width and 1200px height.

My images were uploaded with the correct image size 1080 x 635 and it still doesn’t look crisp.
I tried to change the 1080 x 635 in the functions.php to 1500×1000 and when I upload a feature image at 1500×1000 it looks stretched and distorted. I did regen the thumbnails. Where would I make the change in the editor to make the Highlight Slider 1500 x 1000?

hi mecharissa, yes you can change it on functions.php
on line 47, you can see featured, 1080, 635. you will just need to change those value.
and after that you will need to regnerate thumbnail. using this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

I already tried doing that but the image was stretched and distorted so I had to revert back to 1080 x 635. Do you know what the problem could be? I changed line 47 in functions.php to 1500 x 1000 and uploaded my featured image for the post at 1500 x 1000 and regenerated the thumbnail.Post count: 2485JegbagusFebruary 12, 2016 at 1:58 am #18422
hi mercharissa, if you using 1500 width, it should be using 882 px height

Can I increase the ratio or height? It’s cropping too much of my featured images.Post count: 2179RaiFebruary 13, 2016 at 1:31 am #18465
Yes, you can change it via functions.php and look for the ‘featured’ id and then regenerate the thumbnail to refresh image size.
Anyway, may I know your site URL? Also what browser you use?
